The evening kicked off with the two school’s JV teams battling it out on Bob Straight court.
Both teams came out firing early on and battled to a near standstill over the first seven minutes. The first quarter would close with Norwell up just a single point, 11-10.
Period two saw each team shift into lockdown mode on defense, pulling the half to a close with Norwell holding a tiny 17 to 14 advantage.
Things would heat up after the break as Norwell sophomore Sophie Elmore, who would finish with 5 three pointers and 19 points, squared off with HNHS freshman Grace Sell.
Sell, with assistance from sophomore Addison Dennis and fellow freshman Chloe Kauffman, kept Huntington North within striking distance, as the quarter ended with Norwell up 33-25.
Norwell was able to open a bit of a cushion as the final period wore on and took home the win 44 to 32.
Elmore led the Lady Knights in scoring, followed by Hailey Henschen with 8
Sell paced Huntington North with 14, Kauffman added 8 and Dennis chipped in 5.

The varsity tilt featured the 4th ranked 3A Norwell Lady Knights looking to run their record to 7-0 and
a young 3-5 Huntington North team trying to stand in their way.
Starting 2 freshman and a sophomore, the Vikings would fall behind early, trailing 16-6 after one quarter.
Senior Maddy Robrock and junior Meg McDonald partnered to start a Lady Viking rally as the second period began.
Aided by some tough nosed defense from sophomore Reece Colclesser, who would exit the game in the waning minutes with a bloodied nose, Huntington North would cut the Norwell lead to 20-15.
Norwell would answer, though, as the Lady Knights pushed the margin to 13, 30-17 at the end of the first half.
The opening quarter of the second half saw Huntington North continue to make grounds offensively, dropping in 12 points, which would stand as their best segment of the night.
Unfortunately, for the host Lady Vikings, Norwell sophomore Maiah Shelton was picking up steam, as well. Behind Shelton, who would finish the game with 19 points, the Lad Knights put in 19 points of their own in the quarter, to grow the lead to 49-29.
Norwell would end the game with a 13-7 4th quarter to push the final score to 62 to 36
