Congrats to your HNHS JROTC SENIORS



Cadet Master Sergeant Leaf Vanover has been an active member of the JROTC program for four years.  During his four years, he has been an active member of the Raider team, all four years, selected to go to Raider Nationals twice, and Indiana State Raider Championship twice.  He also served on the Archery team for one year, was a four year member of the boys soccer team, and won a Conference Championship during his two years on the wrestling team.  Post high school, Leaf has signed a 6 year Airborne Ranger contract in the United States Army, with a $47,000 signing bonus upon completion of basic training and AIT.  While in high school, he completed 52 credits, multiple ASE automotive certifications, and a silver medal in 2 cadet fitness challenges. In JROTC, he has received the Parade ribbon, Varsity Athletic ribbon, Community Service ribbon, Physical Fitness ribbon, Raider Nationals ribbon, Raider State ribbon, Athletic ribbon, Service Learning ribbon, and the LET Service ribbon, along with the Raider Arc, Archery Arc, and the Community Service Arc.  In his 4 years of participating in the JROTC program, he has accumulated over 150 hours of community service.  He also works as an umpire in a local youth baseball and softball league.


Cadet Captain Lauren Templeton

has been a part of the JROTC program for four years. She has been accepted to Ball State University with a dual major in elementary education and special education. She has served in the S6 (Communications) Staff function for three years. She has also participated in Raider for two years and JLAB.  She has received the following awards and recognitions through the JROTC program; Academics Arc, Physical Fitness Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbon (1-4), Parade Ribbon, Raider Team Arc, and the Volunteer and Senior Volunteer Ribbon.  In her four years of JROTC she has completed over 125 hours of community service.



Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Caidance Sherwood has been an active member of the JROTC program for four years.  Caidance has recently been accepted into Huntington University where she plans to major in Veterinary Nursing. Caidance’s leadership positions have included being the primary S6 (Communications) Staff Officer, Freshman mentor, and the Platoon Leader for her assigned section for the 2023-2024 school year.  She has been a proactive member on the JROTC Raider, Archery and Color Guard team.  Awards and recognitions that Caidance has received are the Academic Achievement Award, Adventure Team Ribbon, Color/Honor Guard Ribbon, JROTC Athletic Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbon, Parade Ribbon, Physical Fitness Ribbon, Recruiting Ribbon, Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Varsity Athletic Ribbon, Volunteer Ribbon, Archery Arc, Color Guard Arc, Community Service Arc, Honor Guard Arc, and the Raider Arc.  During her four years of JROTC, Caidance has completed over 120 hours of community service.

Cadet Captain Sophia Scheer has been an active member of the JROTC program for three years.  Sophia is enlisting into the Air Force as a medic. Once enlisted, she will receive accelerated rank and pay due to her dedication to the program.  Sophia’s leadership and extracurricular activities include primary S1 (Administrative) Staff Officer, member of the Color Guard and Raider team, and Goalie on the girls Soccer team.  Awards and recognitions that Sophia has received are Honorable Mention for Goalie, Academic Excellence Award, Daughters of American Revolution Award, Adventure Team Ribbon, Color/Honor Guard Ribbon, JROTC Athletic Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbon (1-3), Parade Ribbon, Physical Fitness Ribbon, Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Varsity Athletic Ribbon, Volunteer Ribbon, Color Guard Arc, Community Service Arc, Honor Guard Arc, and the Raider Arc.  During her three years of JROTC, Sophia has completed over 127 hours of community service.

Cadet Sergeant First Class Jasmine Roby has been an active member of the JROTC program for three years.  Jasmine has been accepted into Ball State University where she plans to major in Social Studies Education. Jasmine’s leadership positions have included being a Freshman mentor for the 2021-2023 school years, and Co-Captain of the Bravo Raider team in the 2021-2022 school year. She has been a proactive member on the JROTC Raider team and Cross-Country team.  Awards and recognitions that Jasmine has received are the Volunteer & Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbons 1- 3, Parade Ribbon, Color Guard and Raider arcs. During her three years of JROTC, Jasmine has completed over 144 hours of community service.


Cadet Major Jackson Hughes has been an active member within the JROTC program since its establishment in 2020.  In November 2023, Jackson enlisted into the Indiana National Guard.  He will attend Huntington University after the completion of his basic training.  He has served as the head S4 since his freshman year.  He has also been a proactive member of the Raider and Archery team.  He competed in two Raider Nationals competitions and two Indiana Raider State Championships.  He has earned the following awards and recognitions, Special Forces Association Medal and Ribbon, Academic Achievement Award, Adventure Team Ribbon, Volunteer & Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbons 1- 4, Parade Ribbon, Varsity Athletic Ribbon, Raider Nationals and State Ribbon, Archery Arc, Community Service Arc, and the Raider Arc.  Jackson has also been very active in his community through programs like 4-H, National Honor Society, and other volunteer organizations accumulating over 120 hours of community service. 


Cadet Major Alisha Goodrich has been an active member of the JROTC program for four years. Alisha has been accepted into Indiana Tech where she plans to major in Criminal Justice while shooting competitively for Indiana Tech’s Archery Team.  She has received a total amount of $20,000 in scholarships. Alisha’s leadership positions have included being a JAG Officer (Jobs for American Graduates), the primary S3 (Operations), the Color Guard Captain for the 2022-2023 school year, the Platoon Leader for her assigned section during the 2022-2024 school years.  She has been a proactive member of the JROTC Color Guard team, Archery team, Raider team, and the JLAB team. Awards and recognitions that Alisha has received are the Academic Achievement Award, Adventure Team Ribbon, Volunteer & Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbons 1- 4, Parade Ribbon, Recruiting Ribbon, Varsity Athletic Ribbon, Color Guard Arc, Honor Guard Arc, Archery Arc, Flag Detail, Community Service Arc, and the Raider Arc. During her four years of JROTC, Alisha has completed over 207 hours of community service.

Cadet Staff Sergeant Cadence Booher has been an active member of the JROTC program for three years.  In those three years she has been part of the JROTC Archery team for three years and on the Junior Leadership Academic Bowl (JLAB) team for one year.  She has received an Archery Varsity Letter, a $500 NASP Scholarship, and a $4,000 annual scholarship from Indiana Tech for their Archery team.  Cadence’s plans after high school are to attend Indiana Tech for a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology.  She will also be participating on their archery team. Cadence also works part-time at Pathfinders. She has had internships with Pathfinders doing activities, Flint Springs Elementary teacher assistant, Faith Community Church of God Office assistant, and a peer tutor Special services classroom at Huntington North High school. Cadence also volunteers in her church's nursery and participates in the Worship team. Cadence’s leadership positions include Co-Captain during Archery Competitions, S6 Staff Officer during her first semester, Platoon Sergeant during formations, and freshmen mentoring.  Awards and recognition Cadence has received are the Varsity Athletic Ribbon, Leadership Development Ribbon (1-3), and the Archery Arc.  She has completed over 54 hours of community service.

Cadet Staff Sergeant William Crider has been an active member of JROTC since his freshman year.  William has been an active member of the Raider team for all four years, and the Archery team for 1 year.  William went to Raider Nationals and state in 2023, and served as the Team Captain for the Raider Bravo team during the 2022-2023 school year.  William  plans to attend Vincennes University for an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology.  February 2024, William enlisted into the Indiana Army National Guard with an accelerated rank and pay increase due to his enrollment in JROTC. Awards and recognitions that he has earned include, Volunteer & Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Service Ribbons 1- 4, Parade Ribbon, Physical Fitness Ribbon, Raider Arc, Archery Arc, and Community Service Arc.  During his four years of JROTC, William has completed over 145 hours of community service.

Cadet Major Haley Preston has been an active member of the JROTC program for four years. Haley has recently been accepted into Ivy Tech where she plans to major in Nursing.  She plans on becoming a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), then RN (Registered Nurse) certified. She is a part of the EMT program and has completed 24 hours in the EMS and 19 hours in the Emergency Room.  Haley’s awards and recognitions include the Volunteer & Senior Volunteer Ribbon, Leadership Development Service Ribbons 1- 4, and Parade Ribbon.  During her four years of JROTC, Haley has completed over 117 hours of community service.
