Norwell HS/MS take in this innovative program
The students from Norwell Middle School and Norwell High School were treated to a special joint convocation on Wednesday afternoon.
Guest speaker Craig Tornquist was on hand to present an introduction to the program “Champions Together”.
Champions Together is an innovative partnership between the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and Special Olympics of Indiana, the foundation of which was built in December of 2012 by IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox.
Champions Together connects Special Olympics with high school and middle school athletic programs, while encouraging students to make a positive impact on the lives of those with intellectual disabilities and to become “servant leaders”.
Champions Together is also endorsed by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (IIAAA).
