The Viking Alumni cant wait to get home for Chik-Fil-A

Zachary Heal, a 2016 HNHS graduate and son of Greg and Angie Heal, and Dan and Loni Tuer , is serving in the US Air Force, Senior Airman (E4) in Photojournalism

The Huntington native’s siblings include Josh Heal, Michelle Same, Maddie Heal, Andrew Kiracofe, Zack Tuer and Andrew Tuer.

Zachary attended basic training at Joint Base Lackland, San Antonio, Texas and is currently serving at Anderson AFB, Guam.

Other stops on his journey include Fort George G. Meade, Maryland (home of the NSA, National Security Agency); Vance AFB, Enid, Oklahoma(home of the 71st Flying Training Wing); and Anderson AFB, Guam (36th wing to the Pacific Air Forces 11th.

Highlights of career so far:

Throughout my time in the Air Force, I have had many cool and/or memorable experiences; photographing 2 smaller jets being unloaded from the NASA Super Guppy, watching cargo such as food and toys airdropped to small islands in the pacific as part of Operation Christmas Drop, and even photographing the wreckage of a T-38 crash (fortunately the pilot ejected in time and survived). All of these experiences and many more have created what will be a memorable career in the Air Force.

What is in your future military and or civilian?

I have just under 2 years left in my enlistment, and then I plan on separating from the military.

Post-military I plan on continuing in photography by pursuing portrait and wedding photography. I even have the pages started, feel free to throw my @ out there if you want: FB @ForwardImagery; Insta@4ward_photography.

At this point, I am unsure of whether I will move back to HTown or not, but most of the time I miss home enough to wish I lived there again.

Who or what inspires you and why?

I think what inspires me most, my driving factor through my day-to-day job, is the thought of taking leave and coming home to eat a fresh set of bread sticks from Pizza Junction, or finally getting to eat Chik-Fil-A again … I miss Chik-Fil-A and also my family.

Hobbies/Interest:

In my free time I like to play basketball, hike (hiking in Guam is amazing), and play Xbox with my buddies & siblings back home.

Greenbear The Den would like to give our active military a shout out for serving. If you know someone that is in the military email greenbear@greenbeartheden.com for more info
