Having already set a school record for regular season wins with 19, Huntington North began post season play with eyes on capturing their first sectional crown since 2001.

After avenging earlier losses to Homestead and Fort Wayne South Side, by a combined score of 101 to 66, the Vikings entered Saturday's championship battle against the Fort Wayne Wayne Generals, who were seeking to take command of their first sectional trophy since 1994.

The Viking Fans showed up in droves to support their team.

Wayne took the game's inaugural lead at 2 to 0, but the Vikings would soon get the engines firing on all cylinders.

A three pointer from Zach Daugherty and two triples from Trey Williams, along with an old style three point play from Sawyer Stoltz, pushed Huntington North into the game's first break with a 12 to 8 lead.

Wayne opened the second quarter with a mini run of three straight points, to trim the deficit to a single point, but the rally would be squashed before it gain any more momentum.

Two three pointers from Daugherty would key an 11 to 1 Huntington North run to close the half and put the Vikings up 23 to 12.

The game's final sixteen minutes would open with a Williams three pointer, that pushed the Huntington North lead to 26-12, giving the Vikings their largest lead of the night.

Just as it looked as if the Vikings might be able to pull away, the Generals would rally the troops.

Wayne clapped down on defense and held Huntington North to just five additional third quarter points, while pumping in twelve of their own, equaling their output for the entire first half.

When the dust settled, the Vikings clung to a seven point lead, 31-24, as the game headed to its final stanza.

A three point play by Wayne's Craig Young drew the Generals to within four points at 31-27, but Viking junior Jordon Hollowell was about to show  why the large contingent of Huntington North fans would soon be cheering him on with chants of "MVP"

With Hank Pulver saddled with foul trouble, Hollowell had already stepped up, serving as a key cog in Huntington's efforts to contain Young, who had dropped 27 points in Wayne's victory over Muncie Central on Friday.

With the game's outcome still hanging in the balance, Hollowell took over on offense.

While he didn't hit a single shot from the floor, Hollowell drew five Wayne fouls, going to the line for a total of ten shots, in the final eight minutes of play. He would hit all ten, as the Vikings went 15 for 19 from the line in the quarter to close out the game.

Huntington North brings home the Sectional trophy with a 51 to 40 victory.

Daugherty topped Huntington in scoring with 13 points. Hollowell and Williams followed with 12 and Stoltz tallied 11. Deven Newcomb rounded out the scoring for the Vikings with 3 points.
