Huntington North Grad is ready to serve
Hat tip Dani Clark
Kaleb Dollarhite was a 2023 Huntington North High School graduate that recently signed to the United States Army. Kaleb is the son of Karl and Alisha Dollarhite of Warren, Indiana. Growing up, Kaleb claims that he, “Always wanted to be a part of the army and be one of the strongest soldiers.”
During high school Kaleb participated in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) being active in their raider, rifle, archery, and color guard. He made plenty of memories such as, “hanging out with friends or messing around when we were supposed to be serious,” he said. “Most of my memories that I claim to shape me either have the JROTC involved or my dad. Just a lot of conversations that lead to some kind of point that taught me something in the end. I also learned from other people's mistakes by just watching or listening to their experiences,” Kaleb said. Many of his favorite memories also included his biggest role model. His father, Karl, would bring Kaleb along when he went to fix something for another family member and teach general things he learned in life.
Kaleb was given a fair share of awards in JROTC. To name a few, he was recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution for his strong leadership skills. Kaleb was also awarded the Special Forces Medal which is given to those who are seen as most likely to join the special forces.
Kaleb’s goal is to make a career with the army, reaching the highest duty he can. He wants to at least serve for twenty years and then find jobs within hobbies he picks up along the way. Kaleb hopes to, “live comfortably for the rest of my life just doing what I want.”
Kaleb is leaving for basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia June, 26th 2023.
